Scarlet Umbrella|Adventures in Mobile Technology

I love the UMPC platform. ’nuff said. I could go into a whole list of reasons why I think a UMPC could really fit into my whole mobile lifestyle and why I am saving up to get one. However, here is a prime example: today at 2:03 PM I was browsing my RSS feeds and I noticed that Kevin Tofel had posted jkOnTheRun’s newest contest to celebrate their site reaching its six millionth page view. I had to leave in 5 minutes to take a 30 minute van ride to the middle school where I am mentoring. I’m pretty sure you heard my scream of frustration.

Now if I had a UMPC, I could have tethered it to my cell phone and used the thirty minute ride to enter the contest. So here is my number one reason for getting a UMPC: not having one makes it harder to get free gadgets. And I’m all about free gadgets.

Seriously though, congratulations to James Kendrick and Kevin Tofel for reaching this milestone. I check jkOnTheRun daily and I’m a fan. Hopefully, I’ll have my UMPC when they reach twelve million page views!
